Softball Team Sets Records in 2008
The softball team set Kent State and Mid-American Conference records in 2008 with 46 victories. It was the highest number of wins by any team in the MAC since the league began in 1983. The Flashes clinched their third straight MAC title and played in the NCAA Regional Championship game.
The team combined to steal 74 bases, pitch 529 strikeouts and compile a .163 opponent batting average. Head coach Karen Linder surpassed 600 career victories that year, reaching the 350-win mark at Kent State.
Pitchers Gabe Burns and Kylie Reynolds became the first pitching duo in Kent State history to each win 20 games and strike out 200 batters. Reynolds was named MAC Pitcher of the Year. MAC Player of the Year Jessica Toocheck tallied a record 48 RBIs. Jamie Fitzpatrick raised her career-record home run to 36. Kim Hamilton set the career record for runs scored with 140.
