Janet and Rudy Bachna Coach Gymnastics for 32 Years
Janet and Rudy Bachna took over as coaches of the Kent State gymnastics program in 1959. They remained the anchors of the program for the next 32 seasons.
During their tenure at KSU, the pair guided Kent State to four state championships, four MAC championships and 11 straight AIAW national championships. The Bachnas also founded Gymnastics in Motion, which helped raise funds for the program and entertained the community.
In addition to her duties at Kent State, Janet served as the head coach of the U.S. women's Olympic team in 1960.
