Kent State will return to action Oct. 16 at Ball State
TOLEDO, Ohio – The Kent State soccer team (9-6-0, 3-4-0 MAC) was held in check Friday afternoon in its 2-0 setback to Toledo at Scott Park.
Toledo (8-5-2, 6-01 MAC) utilized a 7-4 shooting advantage in the second half to tally goals in the 64th and 80th minutes. The shutout was the fifth this season for the Rockets; it also marked the third time this year Kent State has been held scoreless.
For the game, Toledo out-shot Kent State 14-5, including a 7-1 mark in shots on goal. Kent State's Jessacca Gironda (Akron, Ohio) had the team's lone shot on frame against the Rockets. Toledo also had a 16-3 discrepancy in corner kicks.
Senior Kelly Sherwood (Strongsville, Ohio) made four saves for Kent State, while the team was credited with a team save.
Kent State is back in action Sunday, Oct. 16 when the Golden Flashes face Ball State at 1 p.m. at Briner Sports Complex.
