Field Hockey On The Road For A Pair of Games This Weekend

Golden Flashes at Ball State on Saturday and at Miami on Sunday
Kent State looks to remain in position to earn one of the two first round byes to the upcoming Mid-American Conference tournament as the team heads to Ball State and Miami for a two game road swing this weekend. The Golden Flashes (3-3 MAC) head into the weekend in third place in the MAC standings trailing Central Michigan (5-3 MAC) by two in the win column and leading both Ball State (3-4 MAC) and Miami (3-4 MAC) by half a game.

Scouting Kent State (5-10; 3-3 MAC):
• The Golden Flashes are looking to return to the win column after losing at Ohio (2-0) and at home to Missouri State (3-1) last weekend.
• Debbie Bell scored Kent State's lone goal on the weekend bring her MAC leading total to 14 for the season
• The Golden Flashes are averaging 2.13 goals scored per game this season
• Kent State ranks ninth in the country averaging 9.0 penalty corner per game
Scouting Ball State (3-12; 3-4 MAC):
• Ball State is coming off of a 2-1 loss at Central Michigan last Sunday. The Cardinals own conference wins over Miami (2x) and Missouri State this season
• Devanny Kuhn is the leading scorer for the Cardinals with five goals and three assists.
• Kent State has won seven straight and 11 of the last 13, but trails the all-time series that first began in 1981 by a 27-32 count. Led by two goals from Debbie Bell and one each from Rebecca Lee and Carla Johl, the Golden Flashes defeated Ball State 4-1 earlier this season at home.
Scouting Miami (5-12; 3-4 MAC):
• Miami is coming off a conference loss at Central Michigan last weekend and a non-league defeat at Ohio State on Tuesday. The RedHawks, which also host Ohio on Saturday have MAC wins against Kent State, Central Michigan, and Missouri State
• Olivia Miller is one goal away from reaching double digits. She leads the team with nine goals out of the teams total of 26
• Kent State has face Miami more times than any other school owning a 41-29-2 all-time record against the RedHawks. After splitting the two regular season meetings last season, the Golden Flashes defeated Miami 3-2 in the MAC Tournament championship game. Miami won the first match-up this year by a 2-1 count on Oct. 1 in Kent

Kent State wraps up the regular season next weekend by hosting Ohio on Friday at 12:00 pm and Central Michigan on Saturday at 11:00 am. The 2011 MAC Tournament will then take place Nov. 3-5 at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.
