Ledford Named to MAC All-Tournament Team

AKRON, Ohio - Kent State freshman Abbey Ledford (West Liberty, Ohio/West Liberty Salem) was named Mid-American Conference All-Tournament Team Sunday at Firestone Stadium. Ledford hit .500 in three tournament games and helped the the Golden Flashes earn a 5-2 comeback victory over Eastern Michigan on Thursday.
Ledford went 4-for-4 against the Eagles, including a seventh-inning RBI single that brought home the go-ahead run for the Flashes. She also made a pair of diving stops in the field, including one in the bottom of the seventh to end the game.
Playing in 46 games on the season, Ledford hit .364 with six home runs, three doubles and 25 runs batted in. She started 44 games at second base and was among KSU's top defensive players.
The Golden Flashes advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the eighth consecutive season in 2011 and were among the final six teams remaining for the sixth straight year. Kent State's 401 hits and 270 runs scored in 2011 were the most in program history.
