Finchum Named Academic All-MAC; Seven Flashes Earn Honorable Mention

CLEVELAND - Kent State's Holly Finchum (Galloway, Ohio/Bishop Ready) added another honor to her long list of awards this season when she was recently named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Softball Team. Seven other Golden Flashes (Danielle Abernathy, Jessica Carmichael, Maleeya Coleman, Mary Holt, Shannon Laughlin, Markie Pozzuto, Sarah Starr) earned Academic Honorable Mention.
Finchum graduated cum laude last month and completed her college softball career by hitting .333 at the MAC Tournament with a .556 on-base percentage. During the tournament, she was presented with the MAC's Nan Harvey Award. Other notable honors this season included being named Student Leader of the Year by the University's Center for Student Involvement.
Serving as KSU's starting left fielder this past season, Finchum hit .300 in conference play with a .404 on-base percentage and led the team with nine stolen bases. She finished eighth among Kent State's career leaders in stolen bases with 34.
Academic All-MAC and Honorable Mention selections all carry cumulative grade point averages of 3.2 or higher
