Freshman helps Kent State to a pair of road shutouts
KENT, Ohio – Stephanie Senn, a freshman goalkeeper on the Kent State women's soccer team, was named the College Sports Madness Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the website announced Monday.
Senn becomes the second Kent State player in as many weeks to earn the weekly accolade from College Sports Madness after teammate Jaclyn Dutton was honored Oct. 8.
Senn anchored the Kent State defense in posting back-to-back road shutouts against Western Michigan Oct. 12 and Eastern Michigan Oct. 14. Against Western Michigan, Senn needed to make just one save in the overtime victory as the Kent State defense held the Broncos to just five shots overall. The win halted a four-game winless streak for Kent State against Western Michigan.
Then, two days later against Eastern Michigan, Senn posted her sixth shutout of the year and the seventh for the Golden Flashes with a four-save effort against the Eagles. The shutout was also the fifth shutout for Kent State against Mid-American Conference challengers.
For the year, Senn boasts a 0.79 goals-against average in 15 games played.
