Field Hockey Set For Another Battle Against Central Michigan In MAC Tournament Semifinals

With a Golden Flashes win in the semifinals they will play for the MAC Tournament Championship for the third year in a row.
KENT, Ohio -- The Mid-American Conference regular season champion, No. 2 seed Kent State (8-12; 4-1 MAC), will look to advance in conference tournament play against No. 3 seed Central Michigan (7-10; 3-2 MAC) Friday, November 2 at 2:30 p.m. The match will take place in Oxford, Ohio, the site of the 2012 MAC Tournament.
If the Golden Flashes were to win on Friday they would face the winner of the No. 1 seed Miami vs. No. 4 seed Ohio game. Kent State has posted a 1-0 record against the Bobcats this season, while losing their only conference game against Miami earlier this year.

FLASH FACTS
The Golden Flashes are coming off of a huge victory against Central Michigan last Saturday. After just over 99 minutes of play Kent State came out on top in double overtime courtesy of junior Rebecca Lee's (Bathurst, Australia) goal. The win gave Kent State a share of the MAC regular season crown with Miami.
With the 2012 MAC regular season title Kent State has won their fourth title in the last five years and it is the program's 12th title all-time.
The Golden Flashes have made the MAC Tournament every year since Head Coach Kathleen Wiler was hired (2006).
Coach Wiler currently ranks 3rd all-time in Kent State's coaching annals with 79 victories.
Kent State has played in the MAC Tournament every year since 1988, a streak that has lasted 24 years.
Sophomore Jahna Jordan (Fallbrook, Calif.) is coming off a shutout in which she kept Central Michigan off the board for over 99 minutes of action, a feat that hasn't been seen in the MAC since 2006.

SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN
The Chippewas are coming off of a close 1-0 loss to the Michigan Wolverines to conclude their regular season schedule. Prior to that they had a double overtime loss to the Kent State team they are about to face. In that game Central Michigan was able to put up 17 shots, including eight shots on goal, as well as managing 13 penalty corners. However, they were unable to get on the board, being shut out. The Chippewas have two dangerous players at the top of their lineup in Erin Dye (eight goals, one assist, and 17 points) and Bailey McKeon (seven goals, three assists, and 17 points). They also have an impressive goalie, Anastasia Netto, who has only given up five goals in the last four games.
CENTRAL MICHIGAN SERIES HISTORY
Kent State has a significant lead over the Chippewas at (48-13) in their all-time history. Dating back to 2007 the Golden Flashes have won 12 straight games, if that streak is pushed to 13 on Friday Kent State will find themselves in the MAC Championship game. Last weekend the Golden Flashes bested the Chippewas 1-0 in the last minute of double overtime. The last three times the schools have met Kent State has won in overtime. Junior Rebecca Lee (Bathurst, Austrailia) put the game away for the Golden Flashes in two of those games, both in double overtime.
The Golden Flashes have met Central Michigan in the semifinals of the MAC Tournament the past two years. In 2010 the Chippewas were topped by Kent State 4-2 and again in 2011 the Golden Flashes came away victorious, defeating Central Michigan 4-1. Both wins propelled Kent State to the MAC Championship game.
