The Game
A season long five-game homestand to start the year continues on Friday night as Kent State (1-1) welcomes Chicago State (1-1) to the M.A.C. Center. The game is the first of four games for the Golden Flashes as part of the Joe Cipriano Nebraska Classic. Kent State also hosts Valparaiso on Sunday and Bethune Cookman on Tuesday as part of the tournament before traveling to Lincoln to face the Cornhuskers on Saturday, Nov. 24.
The Golden Flashes will be looking to rebound from an 80-66 loss to Temple in the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore guard Kris Brewer led the way for Kent State with a career high 19 points on 8-13 from the field. After averaging only 2.2 points per game all of last season, Brewer is averaging 11.0 through the first two games this year while connecting on 47 percent from the field. Senior forward Chris Evans added 17 points including trio of three-point plays to go along with his three assists and three steals.
Chicago State comes to Kent following an 81-65 win over Concordia Chicago on Tuesday evening. Jeremy Robinson, the preseason Great West Player of the Year leads the team in scoring and rebounds this season. The 6-9 forward is averaging 17 points and nine rebounds through the first two games.
