Morehead, Ky. – Tamzin Barroilhet netted a career–high 26 points, but the winning shot at the buzzer rimmed out for Kent State (1-10), resulting in a 51-50 loss at Morehead State (3-9).
Kent State overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to grab the one-point lead with 52 seconds to play. Just like in the win against Morehead State a season ago, Diamon Beckford threw up what would have been the game-winning shot as the buzzer sounded. However, this time the shot rimmed out and Morehead State took home the victory.
Tamzin Barroilhet earned herself a double-double, including a career-high 26 points to lead the Flashes. She also grabbed a team-high ten rebounds. The senior was 10-for-13 from the floor and went 6-for-7 at the foul line. She was the only Kent State player to score in double digits.
Amber Dunlap was second in scoring for Kent State. She scored nine in the contest, the only points scored by the Flashes' bench in the game. Diamon Beckford had six rebounds.
Kent State struggled in the first half, shooting just 30.4% and turning the ball over 13 times. Those turnovers resulted in 12 points for Morehead State. However, the Flashes came out the locker room ready to stage a comeback. They ended the game shooting 40.4% from the floor and made 9-out-of-10 from the foul line. Kent State also out-rebounded Morehead State 36-26 in the game.
Morehead State was led by a career-night from Almesha Jones. She had 31 points, 15 of those coming from beyond the arc. No other Eagle scored in double-figures. Casey Ryans had seven rebounds.
The Golden Flashes return home after the holiday break for a game against Robert Morris at 3:30 pm in the M.A.C. Center on Dec. 30. The game is part of a men-women's double-header, with the men playing at 7:00 pm.
