Golden Flashes Back in Action Sunday at Home

The Game
Kent State (1-10) hosts Robert Morris (0-10) on Sunday (Dec. 30) in their first game after coming off winter break. The 3:30 pm game is the first of a double-header, with the Kent State men's basketball team hosting Fairmont at 7:00 pm.
The Flashes continue to improve on many areas of their game. Despite averaging 22.1 turnovers a game, Kent State has averaged just 18.25 turnovers in the last four contests. They have also been connecting from beyond the arc more often. They have made 17 three-pointers in the last five games compared to making just 11 through the first six games.
The three senior captains have led the way for Kent State this season. Tamzin Barroilhet leads the team in both points and rebounds, averaging 10.8 and 6.4, respectively. She is also ranked second on the team in assists with a total of 26. Daimon Beckford follows her in both categories, averaging 9.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Trisha Krewson is averaging 7.6 points and 3.8 rebounds on the season.
Coach Danielle O'Banion is sticking with her goal to lessen playing time for her players. No one on the team is averaging more than 30 minutes of playing time a game.
Kent State suffered a heart-breaking loss at Morehead State in their last game on Dec. 21. Beckford's jumper at the buzzer rimmed out as time expired to hand the Flashes a 51-50 loss. Barroilhet had a career night, netting a career-high 26 points and ten rebounds. Kent State overcame a nine point halftime deficit to grab a one point lead with just 52 seconds left in the game, but in the end, Morehead State made the shots that counted. Amber Dunlap had nine points for the Flashes, all coming off the bench.
Robert Morris is looking for their first win on Sunday. In their most recent contest, they lost 59-52 at Coppin State. Artemis Spanou leads the Colonials this season, averaging a double-double of 17.7 points and 13.2 rebounds on the season. She also leads the team with 22 assists.

Next Up For Kent State
The Golden Flashes play at home again on Jan. 2. They face Bethune-Cookman in a 7:00 pm tipoff.Conference play begins the week after with a road-trip to Bowling Green on Jan. 10.
