The Game
Kent State (5-4) travels across the state to Cincinnati on Sunday afternoon to face Xavier (6-2) in a 4:00 pm contest that can been seen on Fox Sports Ohio. The Golden Flashes are looking to snap a two game losing streak following a 76-60 loss at Bucknell on Tuesday night.
After entering Tuesday's game averaging a combined 33.2 points per game, Bucknell limited Kent State's senior duo of Chris Evans (five points) and Randal Holt (six points) to a season low 11 points. The duo is key to the Golden Flashes success having accounted for 43 percent of the offensive production this year.
A pair of underclassmen looking to proved the Golden Flashes with some scoring punch are sophomores Kris Brewer and Devareaux Manley. Brewer had 10 points at Bucknell and is averaging 9.5 points in the last two games while Manley added a team best 15 points in the loss. Manley, who was 3-5 from three in the game, is shooting 50 percent (9-18) from beyond the arc this season.
Xavier is coming off a 66-64 overtime loss to Vanderbilt on Thursday that snapped a three game winning streak for the Musketeers. Freshman Semaj Christon leads the team in scoring (15.4 ppg.), assists (6.0 apg.) and steals (1.3 spg).
