Five-goal weekend for Kent State junior garners recognition from soccer website
KENT, Ohio – Jaclyn Dutton, a junior on the Kent State soccer team, earned national recognition Monday for her weekend performance for the Golden Flashes. Dutton was named to the Sept. 3 TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's College Team of the Week after scoring five of Kent State's seven goals in the team's 2-0-0 weekend.
On Friday, Dutton scored all three of Kent State's goals in a 3-0 shutout victory over Lamar at the UTSA Classic. Her hat trick was the fourth in team history and the fastest any Kent State player scored three goals in a game (33:04). Then, two days later against the host Roadrunners, Dutton scored on a penalty kick in the first half before adding a header goal in the second half in Kent State's 4-1 win.
Dutton leads Kent State with 14 points on six goals and two assists through five games this season. As a team, the Golden Flashes are 4-0-1, which is tied for the team's best start in program history.
The Golden Flashes will host undefeated Youngstown State (4-0-0) Friday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. at Zoeller Field.
