Kent State Field Hockey Plays Host To Robert Morris, Lock Haven

KENT, Ohio -- The Kent State field hockey team looks to return to its winning ways at the friendly confines of Murphy-Mellis Field this weekend, playing host to Robert Morris Friday (Sept. 7) at 2 p.m. and Lock Haven Sunday (Sept. 9) at 12 p.m.

The Golden Flashes (2-3) dipped below .500 after suffering a pair of losses at No. 14 Boston and at Providence College last weekend.
Junior midfielder Rebecca Lee (Bathurst, Australia) and sophomore midfielders Shannon Martin (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Julia Hofmann (Bad Muenster, Germany) lead the Flashes through five games with three goals apiece. Junior defender Sabrina Binder (Krefeld, Germany) has tallied a team-high four assists.

The Colonials have reeled off three straight wins -- including two last weekend over Appalachian State (3-1) last Saturday (Sept. 1) and Saint Louis (4-1) the following day. Sophomore midfielders Jamie Hartley and Taleah Scott lead the Colonials with two goals and two assists apiece.

Friday's game marks the first meeting between Kent State and Robert Morris.
Scouting Lock Haven (2-2)
The Lady Eagles split a pair of games last weekend, beating Cornell in overtime, 2-1, Friday (Aug. 31) before falling to Bucknell, Sunday (Sept. 2).
Senior forward Nikki Weaknecht and sophomore midfielder Taylor Kennedy lead Lock Haven with two goals apiece.
Lock Haven Series History
Kent State leads the all-time series against Lock Haven, 7-6-1. The Golden Flashes have won the last four meetings between the two programs -- including a 3-2 win on the road last season on Sept. 9, 2011. Then-sophomore Melanie Kahn (San Diego, Calif.) scored a pair of goals to push Kent State to the win.
