Kent State travels to the University at Buffalo on Wednesday night for its first meeting with a Mid-American Conference East Division rival in 2012-13.
The Golden Flashes hold a 26-8 advantage in the all-time series, but most of those wins have come within the comfort of the M.A.C. Center where Kent State is 15-0 against the Bulls. At Buffalo's Alumni Arena, the Flashes are 9-7 with losses in four consecutive visits dating back to a 76-66 victory on Feb. 19, 2008. Kent State is 2-1 against Buffalo on neutral sites.
This year's Golden Flashes are off to a 1-1 start in MAC play, answering a frustrating home loss to Toledo with an impressive 61-47 win at Ball State on Saturday.
Chris Evans continues to lead Kent State in both scoring (16.6) and rebounding (7.3), while fellow senior Randal Holt is averaging 13.4 per game.
True freshman forward Chris Ortiz will play his second game since returning from a broken foot suffered in a Nov. 28 win at Youngstown State.
Buffalo is off to a 5-11 start that includes an 0-2 mark against MAC opponents. The Bulls lost a 58-57 heartbreaker to Miami in Buffalo on Saturday.
Junior power forward Javon McCrea leads the Bulls in scoring (15.8) and rebounding (10.7). Will Regan (10.7) and Jarod Oldham (10.1) are also averaging in double figures for Buffalo.
Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on SportsTime Ohio with Michael Reghi and Dave Ceccuti on the call.
