Kent State will hope to continue its road magic when it visits Bowling Green on Wednesday, Jan. 23 in a meeting between Mid-American Conference East Division rivals at the Stroh Center.
The Golden Flashes own the best road record in the conference at 5-2. No other MAC team has a winning record away from home. In fact, the only team in the conference with more than two road victories this season is Western Michigan, and the Broncos are just 3-6 away from Kalamazoo.
Nationally, Kent State is tied for 18th in the nation for the most road wins this season.
To capture a fourth straight road victories, Rob Senderoff's team will need to recover from a disappointing 71-67 home loss to Akron on Saturday. Bowling Green, meanwhile, is coming off a 68-65 loss at Buffalo that kept the Falcons winless on the road this season.
Chris Evans leads Kent State in scoring (17.2) and rebounding (7.7) while fellow senior Randal Holt is scoring at a 13.8 per-game clip.
Senior guard Jordan Crawford and senior forward A'uston Calhoun pace the Falcons in scoring at 16.5 and 16.1 points per game, respectively.
Bowling Green holds a lead in the all-time series at 81-67 after the two teams split last season. The Falcons won the first meeting between the two teams at the Stroh Center 74-58 behind 62-percent shooting from the field in the second half.
QUICK FLASHES
• Kent State's two seniors, Chris Evans (17.2 ppg) & Randal Holt (13.8 ppg), combine to average 31.0 points per game which accounts for 44 percent of the Golden Flashes' scoring and is the 3rd highest-scoring duo in the Mid-American Conference this season, trailing Rian Pearson and Julius Brown of Toledo and Jordon Crawford and A'uston Calhoun of Bowling Green.
• Holt needs one three-pointer to become the 4th Kent State player to make 200 in a career, tying Armon Gates and current assistant coach Eric Haut for 2nd place all-time.
• Evans is the only player to rank among the top 10 in the MAC in scoring, rebounding, offensive rebounding, steals, and minutes played.
• Kent State holds a +4.2 advantage in second chance points per game so far this season. The Flashes are averaging 13.9 second chance points while allowing 9.7 points per game.
• Only 18 of the nation's 347 Division I schools have more road wins than Kent State's 5 so far this season.
