Kent State Concludes January with Road Matchup at Northern Illinois

The Game
Kent State will try to end a three-game losing streak on Wednesday, Jan. 29, when it travels to Northern Illinois for an 8 p.m. contest at the NIU Convocation Center.
The Golden Flashes (11-9, 2-4) have dominated their series with the Huskies, winning 32 of their 49 meetings, including the last 11 in a row and 15 of the last 16. The Huskies' last victory over Kent State was back on Feb. 8, 2003 when it scored a 67-61 upset in Kent.
Chris Evans continues to lead the Golden Flashes in scoring (17.1), rebounds (7.4), steals (37) and blocked shots (15). The senior forward ranks second in the Mid-American Conference in scoring, fourth in rebounds and fourth in steals.
Fellow senior Randal Holt is eighth in the MAC in scoring (14.0) and tied for the lead in the conference in three-point field goals made at 47 (2.4 per game).
Northern Illinois (4-14, 2-4) is led by Abdel Nader, who is averaging 13.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game The Huskies dropped a 42-25 decision on the road to Eastern Michigan in its most recent game this past Saturday.
Kent State beat Northern Illinois, 90-56, in Kent last season when then-freshman Kris Brewer scored a team-high 15 points off the bench. Holt, Evans and former Flashes' star Justin Greene all added 14 points in the win. Keith Gray scored 15 off of the bench to lead the Huskies.

The Golden Flashes will host Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 6 p.m., which will be broadcast live on SportsTime Ohio.
