OXFORD, Ohio – The Kent State volleyball team was unable to take a step towards securing a spot in this month's Mid-American Conference Tournament, falling to Miami, 3-1 (23-25, 18-25, 28-26, 21-25), Friday evening.
Junior Lauren Engleman had her fourth consecutive strong performance after being reinserted into the lineup two weekends ago. Engleman had a career night, totaling 17 kills and 20 points. Junior Liz Reikow had a productive night offensively in the middle with 13 kills and a .480 attack percentage. Senior Aleksandra Nowak recorded a match-high 43 assists for the Golden Flashes.
Typically a strong defensive team, the Flashes were unable to find a way to slow down the RedHawks on this night. Miami posted a .294 attack percentage, which is the fourth-highest mark the Flashes have allowed this season. Junior Kaylee Koller tallied 28 digs as the lone player in double-figures.
Kent State returns to the court Saturday evening at Bowling Green. The Flashes will look to create separation from the pack entering the final weekend of the regular season in search of a postseason berth.
