Leppelmeier named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Junior Jackie Leppelmeier has been named Mid-American Conference Female Scholar Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 2-8, the conference office announced on Wednesday.
The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented weekly to a MAC male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during the week's competition. The winners are selected by a group of the conference's faculty athletic representatives.
Leppelmeier posted top marks for the conference in both the weight throw and shot put at the Golden Flash Gala Dec. 7. Leppelmeier won the weight throw by almost 11 feet with a toss of 67'-01.25", which was ranked 4th in the nation for the first weekend of competition. She added a runner-up throw in the shot put of 48'-10.25" that was the best among collegiate competitors at the meet.
This is the second time in the last two years that Leppelmeier has earned the weekly honor from the conference. A junior exercise science major, she maintains a 3.87 cumulative GPA.
