KENT, Ohio- Senior Marie Case won two titles and set a new personal record on the balance beam to lead the Kent State gymnastics team to a 194.475-192.775 over Pittsburgh in the Blue-Gold exhibition meet on Friday evening at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
Case posted a first-place score of 9.825 on the uneven parallel bars and followed with a 9.950 on the balance beam to set a new personal record and move up to fifth in the Kent State record books in the event.
Junior Amiah Mims, who competed in just nine meets last season due to injury, had a strong showing tonight with titles on both the vault (9.850) and the floor (9.875). Competing all-around for the Golden Flashes, Mims also finished fourth on bars (9.700) and ninth on the beam (9.650).
Sophomore Jaymi Baxter picked up second place on the vault with a 9.750 and finished fourth on the bars (9.700), and while Nicolle Eastman earned third on floor (9.825), and fourth on beam (9.825).
The Golden Flashes will travel to Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, January 12, and will then host Eastern Michigan, George Washington and Rutgers on Friday, Jan. 17.
