Gymnastics Travels to Southeast Missouri State Sunday

Kent, Ohio -- Kent State Gymnastics is set to start their regular season with a dual meet at Southeast Missouri State on Sunday, January 12th at 2:00 p.m.
The match will be the first regular season competition for the Golden Flashes who were picked to win the MAC.
Kent State took on Pittsburgh in the Blue-Gold exhibition meet on Friday, December 6 where senior Marie Case (Erie, Pa.) who won two titles and set a new personal record on the balance beam led the Golden Flashes gymnastics team to a 194.475-192.775 win over Pittsburgh.
Case finished in first-place with a score of 9.825 on the uneven parallel bars and followed that with a 9.950 on the balance beam, her personal record, to move up to fifth in the Kent State record books in the event.
Junior Amiah Mims (Indianapolis, Ind.) returned to action for the Golden Flashes and took home titles on both the vault, 9.850, and the floor, 9.875. Mims returns to action after she competed in just nine meets last season due to injury. Competing all-around for Kent State, Mims finished fourth on bars, 9.700, and ninth on the beam, 9.650. Sophomore Jaymi Baxter picked up second place on the vault, 9.750, and fourth on the bars, 9.700, while Nicolle Eastman earned third on floor, 9.825, and fourth on the beam, 9.825.
The Flashes have won the last four meetings against the Redhawks, posting a 4-1 all-time record. Kent State defeated Southeast Missouri in the last meeting on March 15, 2013 in Kent 195.975-194.025. The Redhawks finished third a year ago in the Midwest Independent Conference with a record of 5-7.
Kent State returns home Friday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. to host Eastern Michigan, George Washington and Rutgers.
