Kent State will try for its fourth consecutive win and its sixth victory in the last seven games when it hosts Bowling Green on Tuesday, March 4, on Senior Night at the M.A.C. Center.
During pregame, the Golden Flashes will celebrate the careers of Randal Holt, Chris Evans and Brian Frank, who will all be playing their last regular-season game on the M.A.C. Center's parquet floor.
Holt, Kent State's all-time leader in three-point field goals, has averaged 20.0 points per game during the Golden Flashes' current three-game winning streak. Evans, meanwhile, ranks fourth in the Mid-American Conference in both scoring (17.0) and rebounding (7.6). He is also the only player in the country with 150 points, 200 rebounds, 100 free throws, 50 assists, 50 steals, 30 three-pointers and 20 blocks. Tonight will also be Frank's first career start.
Kent State will try to avenge a 70-55 loss at Bowling Green on Jan. 23. Holt led the Golden Flashes with 14 points in the first meeting. Chauncey Orr, the son of Falcons coach Louis Orr, led Bowing Green with 18 points, while A'uston Calhoun and Jordon Crawford scored 12 points each. Calhoun is the Falcons' top scorer (15.4) and rebounder (7.3) this season.
The last time Bowling Green swept Kent State was in 1997. In that season't first meeting, the Golden Flashes couldn't hold a 10-point halftime lead in an 85-69 loss. In the second meeting, Kent State led 42-17 at the half before losing 70-69 at the M.A.C. Center.
The Falcons are coming off of a 78-65 home loss to Ohio University on Saturday that saw Calhoun score a team-high 24.
With wins tonight against Bowling Green and Friday at Akron, Kent State would clinch the No. 4 seed in the upcoming MAC tournament. The Golden Flashes are tied with Buffalo and Eastern Michigan with matching 7-7 conference records and just two games remaining in the regular season, but they own the tiebreaker with both teams.
