Field Hockey's Spring Season Begins This Weekend

Kent State field hockey will take the field for the first time this year on Saturday and Sunday as they being their spring season.
The Golden Flashes travel to Ohio State on Saturday (Apr. 6) to play Indiana at noon and Louisville at 2:00 pm. From there, they travel to Indiana to play Ohio State, Miami 1809 and Miami (Ohio) in Bloomington on Sunday (Apr. 7). Game times are set for 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm to close out the weekend.
The following week, Kent State's spring schedule continues as they travel to Louisville on Saturday, April 13. They have games scheduled against Central Michigan at 9:30 am and Michigan State at 2:10 pm.
The team is confident heading into the spring season. They are ready to start strong and prepare to defend another conference championship in the fall.
"I think we're better than we've ever been," said junior Rebecca Lee. "I think we're going to play really well this weekend."
"I'm just excited for them to get out there and compete," head coach Kathleen Wiler said. "We've been competing against each other a lot, and hopefully against other teams we will do great."
Kent State hopes to build on a successful 2012 season where they won a share of the Mid-American Conference title and made it to the MAC Tournament final. Their regular season is slated to begin at the end of August.
