Kent State to open MAC Tournament play against Central Michigan

KENT, Ohio – The Mid-American Conference East Division champion Kent State softball team will open MAC Tournament play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (May 9) against No. 3 seed Central Michigan (30-18, 15-7) at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio. The Golden Flashes, 27-19-1 overall and 16-6 in conference play, are the No. 2 seed and have won seven of their last eight conference games.
Central Michigan defeated No. 7 Bowling Green (27-23, 9-13), 8-0 in five innings, tonight (May 8). BG opened the tournament earlier today with a 2-0 win over No. 6 Ohio (26-28, 9-13). Kent State and No. 1 seed Ball State (35-15, 18-3), the MAC West Division champion, received double byes to the second day of competition as the top seeds.
Kent State split its two-game series April 6-7 at Central Michigan, losing, 3-0, before coming back the next day to win, 5-4, in 11 innings.
