No. 21 Gymnastics Hosts Quad Meet Friday in the M.A.C.

KENT, Ohio – The No. 21 Kent State Gymnastics team hosts a quad meet with No. 16 Rutgers, George Washington and Eastern Michigan on Friday, January 17 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation (M.A.C.) Center beginning at 7 pm as their first home event of the year.Â
The Golden Flashes enter with a 1-0 record after a successful trip to Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on Sunday, Jan. 12 and brought home the 194.725-192.375 victory.
Senior Marie Case (Erie, Pa.) led the way for the Golden Flashes as she took first in the uneven parallel bars (9.825), balance beam (9.750) and the floor exercise (9.800).
Junior Nicole Radon (Hamburg, N.Y.) and freshman Olivia Trout (Concord, Ohio) joined Case in first place in the balance beam as Rebecca Osmer (Atwater, Calif.) tied Case in the uneven parallel bars. Along with first in the balance beam, Trout won first place, outright, in the Vault with a score of 9.825.
The quad-meet will include Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan, who is seeing their first action of the year. The Golden Flashes hold the 49-20 all-time series against the Eagles as Kent swept the season last year with wins on March 9th, 195.050-194.575, in Kalamazoo, Mich. and on March 23rd, 194.775-193.675, in Ypsilanti, Mich.Â
George Washington is coming off a first place finish at the Lindsey Ferris Invitational (193.025) on Jan. 12 in Washington, D.C. Kent State holds a 9-1 lead in the all-time series against the Colonials with the last meeting the Golden Flashes came away victorious, 194.675-193.875 in Kent.Â
No. 16 Rutgers enters with a 1-0 record as they defeated New Hampshire, 195.075-191.750 on Jan. 11 in Piscataway N.J. The Flashes hold the 3-0 all-time series against the Scarlet Knights where Kent won the last meeting 195.675-193.700 in the M.A.C.
Kent State next hosts North Carolina State Sunday, January 19 at 2 pm in the M.A.C. Center as part of the Beauty and the Beast event with the Kent State wrestling team.Â
