
BEAUTY: No. 21 Gymnastics Hosts North Carolina State Sunday

Kent State's Memorial Athletic and Convocation (M.A.C.) Center will host the second annual Beauty and the Beast event Sunday, January 19 at 2 p.m., as both the gymnastics and wrestling teams host North Carolina State with simultaneous action on one floor.
The Golden Flashes are 3-1 after picking up two wins and one loss Friday in a quad meet at the M.A.C. Center. Kent State defeated Eastern Michigan for their first conference win of the season, 194.475-192.750, and topped George Washington 194.475-193.400. The Flashes fell to No. 16 Rutgers 195.250-194.475.
Freshman Olivia Trout tied for first in the balance beam (9.800) with Rutgers' Alexis Gunzelman. Junior Nicole Radon tied for second in floor exercise (9.850) with Chelsea Raineri of George Washington as Trout and Radon were the top two placers for the Golden Flashes.
Senior Marie Case tied for fifth in the vault (9.825) as junior Chelsea Drooger tied for fifth with sophomore Jaymi Baxter and Case in the uneven parallel bars with scores of 9.800. Case finished second in the all-around competition with a final score of 38.725, Luisa Leal from Rutgers took first (39.125).
An Entertainment-Filled Event
Prior to the Beauty and the Beast event, kids can enter a coloring contest. The winner will receive a Future Flashes prize pack. A $100 gift card to the bookstore will be given to one male and one female Kent State student in the best Beauty & the Beast costumes. After the competition, wrestlers and gymnasts will be signing autographs. At last season's Beauty and the Beast, Kent State's gymnastics team defeated Rutgers 195.675-193.70, while the Flashes' wrestling team pinned Cleveland State 31-10.

Scouting NC State
The Wolfpack enters the dual Sunday after hosting a quad meet in Raleigh, N.C., as they picked up a second place finish (195.650). No. 8 Michigan took first with 196.800 as North Carolina finished third (192.450) as Towson came in fourth at 191.325.
The Series
NC State holds the 6-4 lead in the all-time series over the Flashes. This will be the 11th meeting and only the second time the Wolfpack has traveled North to Ohio. The two teams have met in Raleigh, N.C. seven of the ten times with two meetings in Ann Arbor, Mich. (2009) and once in Morgantown, W. Va. (2010). The teams have alternated winning every two meetings, North Carolina won in 1994, 1997, 2003, 2008 and the two meetings in 2012. Kent State took the meetings in 2001, 2002 and in 2009 and 2010.
