Case Named MAC Gymnast of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Kent State gymnast senior Marie Case (Erie, Pa.) was named Mid-American Conference gymnast of the week, announced today (Tues. Jan. 21) by the conference office.
The Golden Flashes (4-1, 1-0 MAC) ranked No. 22 in the nation (Jan. 20), picked up two wins against Eastern Michigan (194.475-192.750) and George Washington (194.475-193.400) and lost to then No. 16, Rutgers 195.250-194.475 in the quad meet on Friday, Jan. 17. Kent State Bounced back to defeat North Carolina State 195.400-194.150 on Sunday, Jan. 19 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
In the quad meet with George Washington, Eastern Michigan and Rutgers, the senior took fifth in the vault (9.825) and on the bars (9.800) and tied ninth on floor (9.775) while she was 18th on the beam (9.325). Case racked up an All-Around score of 38.725, for second place.
Case finished the dual against NC State with an All-Around score of 39.375, which is first highest score in the MAC this season. Marie took first in the floor exercise (9.900), which is tied tenth in the nation. She finished first in the uneven parallel bars (9.800) and tied second in the balance beam (9.825) and tied third on the vault (9.850).
No. 22 Kent State travels to Western Michigan Friday, Jan. 24 at 7 pm in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
