KENT, Ohio- The Kent State women's soccer team will travel to Eastern Michigan and Bowling Green for Mid-American Conference games this weekend. The Flashes will play the Eagles at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, followed by a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, October 19 against the Falcons.
KENT STATE'S LAST TIME OUT
The Flashes tied with the Miami Redhawks followed by a loss to the Ball State Cardinals at Zoeller Field last weekend, making their record 7-4-3 with a MAC record of 2-2-2. Sophomore Jenna Hellstrom scored the lone goal for the Flashes against Miami, scoring just 14 seconds after the RedHawks took a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN FLASHES
Hellstrom, a starter in all of Kent State's 14 games, leads the Golden Flashes and ranks third overall in the Mid-American Conference in scoring with 15 points on five goals and five assists. Stephanie Haugh is helping the offense with seven points (2g, 3a), while both Karli Paracca and Doni Capehart have added three goals apiece. Â
Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Senn has started in all 14 games and has a 7-4-3 record. She has earned six shutouts, and has a .861 save percentage and a 0.75 goals against average.  The Golden Flashes have outshot their opponents 212-144 and boasts a 72-53 advantage in corner kicks.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Michigan won its last two MAC games this past weekend, defeating both Toledo 1-0 and Central Michigan 2-0, and looks to complete an undefeated regular season home record.  The EMU attack is led by senior forward Angela Vultaggio. The reigning MAC Offensive Player of the Year has recorded team highs in goals (6) and points (13) with both numbers ranking third and fourth, respectively, among conference leaders. Fellow senior Bianca Rossi follows closely behind Vultaggio with four goals and a pair of assists, totaling 10 points. Meanwhile, Madison Hirsch, Marisa Kozikowski and Chelsie Oddan pace the Green and White in assists with three apiece.
In goal for Eastern, junior keeper and reigning MAC Defensive Player of the Week Megan McCabe (8-3-1) holds down the defensive side of the pitch. Through the first 13 games of the season, McCabe has posted six shutouts to go along with a 0.81 goals against average. She has made 57 saves for a .851 save percentage.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
Bowling Green has lost its past two games in the MAC against Central Michigan and Toledo, both with a score of 0-1.  The Falcons recorded their first MAC win of the year at Akron on Oct. 5 after a late goal from freshman Kylar Fleak in the 95th minute of overtime. Fleak's game-winning goal gave BGSU its first MAC win since defeating NIU 2-0 at home on Oct. 23, 2011.
A total of eight different Falcons have registered at least one goal thus far.  Fleak and senior Sidney Huth lead the way with four and two goals apiece, respectively, while Madison Schupbach, Kara Ross, Jessica Creech, Paige Amodio, Rachel Winters and Jennifer Reyes all have one goal on the year. Lauren Cadel has started in 12 of 13 games and has a 2-10-0 record. She's allowed 23 goals and leads the MAC in saves with 95. Â
THE RECORDS
Kent State and Eastern Michigan will be meeting for the 20th time, and the Eagles lead the all-time series 12-7-0. The Eagles defeated the Golden Flashes 2-0 last season in Ypsilanti. Kent State and Bowling Green meet for the 21st time, as the Falcons lead the series, 10-5-5. Last year, the Golden Flashes earned a 5-1 victory over the Falcons on Zoeller Field.
UP NEXT
The Golden Flashes will return to Zoeller Field for their final two home games of the regular season. Kent State will face Toledo on Friday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. game vs. Central Michigan on Sunday, Oct. 26.
