Cross Country Heads to NCAA Great Lakes Regional

The Kent State's men's and women's cross country teams head to Madison, Wis. for the NCAA Great Lakes Regional hosted by the University of Wisconsin on Friday, November 14th at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. The women's 6K race will kick off at 1 p.m. ET as the men's 10K race is slated for 2 p.m. ET.

Last Time Out …
The last time the Kent State cross country teams hit the course, the Golden Flashes women's team took eighth place at the Mid-American Conference Championships in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. as the men's squad took sixth place.
Kelsey McAlpine, who finished in 17th with a time of 21:23, paced the women's team as they placed ahead of Akron in the championship race to gain a point in the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge between the two schools. Kent State finished with 202 points and a total time of 1:50:46.
Matt Kahl led the men's team to a sixth place finish with a 14th placed 24:54 race. The Flashes finished with a team total of 166 points and a combined time of 2:07:44.
A Look Back … 2013 NCAA Great Lakes Regional
A year ago, the Golden Flashes saw alum Michael Heller advance to the NCAA Championships after he led the pack with a 10th place finish. Heller ran a time of 31:07 on the 10K course in Madison, Wisconsin.
Last year, Samuel Allen took home 120th (33:38) as Matt Kahl ran for 164th place (34:49).
On the women's side, Kent State grad Alexandria Vintevoghel led the Flashes with a time of 21:51 for a 70th place finish. Hannah Fleck finished in 115th place (22:26), Rachel Slingluff came across in 135th (22:45) as Brigid Callaghan ran a time of 23:12 for 160th place.
