Baseball Receives No. 30 Ranking in Preseason Poll

Collegiate Baseball released its 2015 NCAA Division I Preseason Poll on Monday with Kent State listed as the No. 30 team in the nation. The poll considers votes by all Division I head coaches, the teams' previous season's finish, returning players and quality of the team's freshman recruiting class.
Vanderbilt leads the preseason poll with 494 points. Kent State earned the 30th spot with 427 points, right above fellow Mid-American Conference member Ball State. The two are the only MAC schools on the list.
The Golden Flashes finished the 2014 season 36-23 with a 16-11 conference record. Despite a 4th place finish in the MAC, Kent State swept the MAC Tournament to earn a bid to NCAA Regionals where they put on an impressive performance against powerhouses Louisville and Kentucky but was unable to advance.
The team will hit the field for the first time on Feb. 13 at Winthrop to begin the 2015 campaign. They will return home to a brand new Schoonover Stadium turf on March 13 when they host Rider in a non-conference weekend matchup.
