Gymnastics: Two Top 25 Teams Square Off For First Place in the MAC

The No. 25 Kent State Gymnastics team prepares to travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. to take on No. 19 Central Michigan in a battle to remain perfect in the Mid-American Conference Sunday, February 16 at 1 pm.
No. 25 Kent State … 6-1, 3-0 MAC
The Golden Flashes look to remain perfect in the MAC this season as they enter the matchup Sunday coming off a 195.675-193.375 win over Northern Illinois Friday, February 7 in Kent.
Kent State swept first place in all four events as Amiah Mims tied for first on the vault with Marie Case, with a 9.850. Mims continued to power through as she landed a 9.900 on her floor exercise for first. Jaymi Baxter took first on the uneven parallel bars with a 9.850. Case took first on the balance beam with a total of 9.850 as she had a score of 39.300 on the all-around.

Central Michigan comes into the meeting with Kent State off of a 196.500-195.550 win at Bowling Green on Sunday, February 9.
Central Michigan took first on the uneven parallel bars as Kylie Fagan and Brittany Petzold socred a 9.850. Taylor Noonan took first on the balance beam with a 9.900 as Halle Moraw took first on the floor exercise with a 9.925. Petzold took first in the all-around with a 39.225.

This is the 72nd meeting between the two teams as CMU holds the 41-30 advantage with the last victory over the Golden Flashes. The Chippewas won 194.800-194.775 over Kent State on March 23, 2013 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
