Head Coach Kathleen Wiler and staff have announced the signing of seven student-athletes to begin in the 2014 field hockey season. Joining the Golden Flashes will be Ines Delpech (Tandil, Argentina), Jamie Fries (Fleetwood, Pa.), Maggie Fries (Fleetwood, Pa.), Mackenzie Mlkvy (Berlin, N.J.), Jessica Nesbitt (Hamilton, New Zealand), Shannon Talbot (North Wales, Pa.) and Eilidh Thomson (Edinburgh, Scotland).
Delpech played for her city and region teams, winning multiple championships while being named the best player in her division for four straight years. The midfielder also played for the Los Cardos Rugby Club.

Jamie Fries is a two-time varsity starter at Oley Valley High School where she helped her team to two division championships, the state semifinals in 2012 and the state quarterfinals in 2013. As a senior, she was named Second Team All-State and All-Division. As a member of the X-Calibur field hockey club team, Fries also won numerous championships.

Twin sister Maggie was a part of the success of Oley Valley High School, too. A two-year varsity starter, Fries was an All-Division selection her senior year. She joined with her sister to play for the X-Calibur club team.

Mlkvy played for Eastern Camden County Regional High School where she contributed to four state championships, helping maintain 15 consecutive years of state championships for the school. She finished her career with 28 goals and 35 assists and was an All-State, All-District and All-Conference selection as a senior. Mlkvy was also ranked 15th in the nation in assists in her final season.

Nesbitt joins the Flashes after a Waikato A Grade championship, Midlands Grade 1 championship and a 3rd place finish at the national tournament in 2013 at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls. In her final year, she was the top goal scorer, finding the back of the net 14 times while gaining 48 attacking penalty corners. Nesbitt also played varsity for Waikato University when they were the top team in women's open premier grade for three rounds in 2013.

Talbot comes to Kent State after being a standout at North Penn High School where she was named First Team All-State, First Team All-Conference and the team MVP after her senior year. The midfielder finished her career with 24 goals and 17 assists. Talbot also competed with Mystix Field Hockey, winning the Festival championship in 2012.
Rounding out the 2014 signing class, Scotland-native Thomson played for George Watsons College, winning the Scottish Schools Cup in 2012 and 2013 and winning indoors those same years. She also made the East of Scotland District Squad both those years. Thomson won another indoor championship with her club team, Inverleith Hockey Club, in 2012.

The seven newcomers will add to a strong veteran squad when Kent State begins play for another Mid-American Conference championship season this fall.
