Baseball Loses Late Lead to Drop Series at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Kent State had a 5-2 lead after six and a half innings played on Sunday, but then allowed Bowling Green to score ten runs in its final two frames as the Golden Flashes lost 12-5.

At 12-6 in conference play, Kent State is tied with Central Michigan in second place overall, 2.5 games back from leader Ball State.

Bowling Green took an early 2-0 lead in the 1^st that withstood until a two-run innings by the Flashes in the 4^th. A sacrifice fly by Jeff Revesz and a fielding error accounted for the damage.

Kent State went ahead in the 5^th after Alex Miklos and Cody Koch ripped back-to-back doubles. They continued to score with a run in the 6^th and 7^th each on a RBI single by Sawyer Polen and a groundout by Zarley Zalewski.

But, the Falcons came on strong in the 7^th and 8^th, scoring five runs in each inning to capture the win and take the series on their home turf.

Starter Brian Clark went six innings with five hits, four runs, four walks and seven strikeouts to get a no decision. John Fasola suffered the loss after allowing one hit, two earned runs and a walk in relief. Eric Dorsch and Josh Pierce also each allowed two earned runs in the game.

Offensively, Koch had three of the team's eight hits. Miklos had two hits in five at-bats.

Kent State travels to Penn State for a Tuesday night matchup before returning home to host Youngstown State on Wednesday night at 6:00pm.
