
Lemieux Honored by Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Kent State Director of Strength and Conditioning Bob Lemieux was recently named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa). The honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession, and the ceremony is the highlight of the association's national conference each year. Master Strength and Conditioning Coach Al Johnson from Northwestern University presented Lemieux with the blue MSCC Jacket on, May 8, 2014, at the Downtown Salt Lake City Marriott Hotel.

"This is an incredible honor for Bob," says CSCCa Executive Director, Dr. Chuck Stiggins. "Being named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach signifies a commitment to the student athlete, the Kent State University athletic program, and the strength and conditioning profession. We are honored to have Coach Lemieux as a member of our association and to have him join the ranks of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches. He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional."

Lemieux is in his 14th year at Kent State, where he has worked with every varsity sport. He currently works directly with the men's and women's basketball, volleyball, wrestling and men's golf programs. Lemieux's tenure at Kent State has seen 39 Mid-American Conference titles, numerous All-Americans, a national champion and multiple professional athletes.

Remaining active in his industry, Lemieux has co-authored multiple publications in peer reviewed strength training and nutrition journals and has spoken at local and regional clinics and conferences on strength training, program development and nutrition. He also serves as a consultant on the scientific advisory board for the Center for Applied Health Sciences.

Recipients of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coach title must meet a number of requirements including CSCCa Certification and a minimum of 12 years experience as a full-time strength and conditioning coach on the collegiate and/or professional level.
