Stellar Pitching Performances Send Flashes to Semifinals

AVON, Ohio – Nick Jensen-Clagg got Kent State's momentum going in the start and Dan Kopcak sat down all ten batters he saw in Kent State's 4-3 Mid-American Conference Tournament victory over Ball State Thursday night.

Kent State opened the game with two runs on a Jon Wilson walk, a Cody Koch RBI double and a wild pitch.

Ball State was able to answer and take the lead in the bottom of the 1^st, scoring three runs.

The Golden Flashes tied things up in the 3^rd on another double by Koch followed by a ground-rule double by T.J. Sutton. They took the lead an inning later when Zach Beckner singled and eventually came home on a Troy Summers base hit.

Jensen-Clagg went 5.2 innings with five hits, three runs, three walks and five strikeouts. Kopcak entered the game with runners on the corners and two outs in the 6^th and got a ground ball to end the threat. He continued on to shut down the remaining nine Cardinal batters in the game to earn the save in dominant fashion, not allowing a man to reach base while striking out three.

Koch finished the night 3-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored. Jeff Revesz picked up two hits in three at-bats.

Kent State will have Friday off before continuing MAC Tournament play on Saturday at 1:00pm. The Golden Flashes will face the winner of the Ball State/Western Michigan game that is scheduled for Friday at 4:30pm.
