Field Hockey's Season Concludes in 1-0 NCAA Postseason Loss

AMHERST, Mass. – Kent State's season concluded Wednesday afternoon as the team fell in a tight battle at the University of Massachusetts, 1-0, in the NCAA Play-In game.
The Golden Flashes finish the season at 11-9 while the Minutewomen will advance to face Syracuse on Saturday.
"I'm really proud of this team and all we've accomplished this season," said Head Coach Kathleen Wiler. "We had a lot of opportunities in the second half and just came up short."
The game was a tale of two halves, as UMass outshot Kent State 8-0 in the first 35 minutes, including a goal on a corner play at the 23:35 mark that decided the game. However, the Golden Flashes put together a strong second half with many opportunities; unfortunately, none of the team's eight shots were able to find the back of the net.
The final shot total landed in favor of UMass, 14-8, as the Minutewomen also had more penalty corners, 6-3.
Ines Delpech led with three shots while Alison Harmatz finished with two. Andrea Rinehart had a strong day in goal with eight saves.
