Gymnastics Takes 2nd at NC State Friday

RALEIGH, N.C. – Kent State's gymnastics team picked up two wins in the Reynolds Coliseum on Friday, February 20th as part of a quad meet at North Carolina State University. The Golden Flashes defeated NC State and Rutgers, while they lost to UNC-Chapel Hill at the quad with a final score of 194.725.
The Flashes posted scores of 48.975 (vault), 48.125 (bars), 48.575 (beam) and 49.025 (floor) to comprise their 194.725 final score. Kent State moves to 4-6 on the season after grabbing two victories, over NC State and Rutgers, and one loss, to UNC-Chapel Hill Friday.
UNC came away with three wins, going undefeated on the night with a final score of 194.950. NC State took third out of the four teams with a final score of 194.625, as Rutgers came in fourth with a 193.950. UNC moves to 12-4 on the season, NC State goes to 6-6 as Rutgers falls to 7-10 on the year.
Kent State saw five gymnasts take top-five honors in Chelsea Drooger, Michaela Romito, Rachel Stypinski (in two events), Brooke Timko and Skyelee Lamano.
Romito and Stypinski leave the Reynolds Coliseum with first place finishes. Romito tied for first on bars with a 9.850, as Stypinski won the floor title with a 9.925. Stypinski also took second on the balance beam with a 9.800 on the night.
Drooger tied for second on vault, 9.825, as Lamano tied for second on floor, 9.875. Timko took third on the beam with a 9.775.
Kent State returns home next Sunday, March 1st when they host George Washington in the annual Pink Meet at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in Kent, slated for 1pm.Â
