Gymnastics Drops Conference Meet at Eastern Michigan Saturday

YPSILANTI, Mich. – Kent State's gymnastics team lost a tough matchup, 194.700-193.800, to the Eastern Michigan Eagles Saturday, February 7th in the EMU Convocation Center.
The Golden Flashes fall to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in Mid-American Conference competition as the Eagles improve to 7-1 and 2-1 in MAC competition.
Kent State scored team totals of 48.800 on the uneven bars, 48.725 on the vault, 48.300 on floor and 47.975 on the balance beam to make up their final team score of 193.800.
Eastern Michigan scored 48.825 on vault, 48.375 on bars, 48.550 on beam and a 48.950 on floor for their final score of 194.700.
The Eagles held the slight lead after the first rotation, 48.825 to 48.800, over the Flashes, but Kent State surged back to take the lead after two rotations at 97.525 to 97.200. The Flashes would hold an advantage going into the final rotation after leading Eastern Michigan 145.825 to 145.750, before the Eagles rallied on their floor routine to defeat Kent State 194.700-193.800.
Chelsea Drooger and Rachel Stypinski each won events for the Flashes tonight as Drooger won the bars and Stypinski won the balance beam both with scores of 9.800.
Kelsey Lawless finished behind Drooger on bars as she tied for second with a 9.775. Michaela Romito and Ali Marrero each tied for fourth with a 9.750 on bars.
Drooger tied for second on the vault with a 9.800 to conclude her evening for events. Skyelee Lamano, Nicolle Eastman and Romito all tied for fifth on vault at 9.750.
Lamano and Jordan Hardison finished the meet each with a 9.800 on floor as they tied for second.
Kent State's gymnastics team returns home next Sunday, February 15th as they host Central Michigan at 2pm inside the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
