Skolnicki Named MAC East Pitcher of the Week

Kent State LHP Jared Skolnicki was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week for his performance this past Saturday, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
Skolnicki has proved to be a gem in Kent State's weekend rotation, and he impressed again in his third start this weekend as the Flashes took down a tough Coastal Carolina team on its home turf. Â Skolnicki went seven innings in the start to earn the win and only allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out two. Â Without much offensive support through the first few innings, Skolnicki battled through some pressure put on by the Chanticleers. After they scored a run in the 2nd with one out, the sophomore picked a runner off then got a groundout to end the threat. Â After a single in the 4th, he picked off another to end the inning. Â The opposition was only able to hit .167 against him.
The Golden Flashes will continue the season March 6-8 when they travel to Liberty for a four-game series.
