Baseball Falls 8-3 in Series Finale at Liberty

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Kent State (6-6) dropped the rubber match at Liberty (8-6) Sunday afternoon by a score of 8-3 as the offense was only able to come up with five hits in the game while the Flames were able to get 14.

The Golden Flashes fell into a 3-0 hole after the 2^nd inning but came back with a two-run 3^rd. Zarley Zalewski walked, Alex Miklos singled and advanced on a wild pitch before Curtis Olvey hit them home on a double to left.

The Flames posted another run in the 4^th, two more in the 5^th and two again in the 8^th to put the game out of reach.

Conner Simonetti took the first pitch he saw in a pinch-hit situation in the 9^th and put it over the wall in centerfield, but it was all the Flashes could do in the inning as they fell 8-3.

Andy Ravel was handed the loss as he went just four innings in the start with eight hits, five runs, one walk and three strikeouts. Jared Skolnicki followed in relief with 3.1 innings allowing three hits, one run and one walk while striking out three. Aaron Tadian finished the game on the mound with 0.2 innings of work with three hits, two runs and one strikeout.

Kent State's five hits were scattered throughout the lineup with no one getting more than one in the game. Olvey led the team with two-RBI in a 1-for-2 day with a walk.
