KENT, Ohio- Deputy Athletic Director Devin Crosby has been appointed Director of Athletics for NCAA Division II Lynn University. Crosby was selected from more than 270 candidates in a highly competitive nationwide search. He will become just the seventh director in the Fighting Knight's 30-year history.
"The City of Kent is a special place and Kent State University has established itself as a leading institution," said Crosby. "My family and I love this community and this Kent State experience has served as a foundation for my career. My wife Cindy and I will miss the people and friendships that make the City of Kent and the University one of the best town and gown relationships in the world."
While at Kent State, Crosby helped raise funds for scholarships and facilities, improved student attendance at games and increased the national profile of the athletics program. Previously, Crosby held leadership positions with other successful athletics programs at Northeastern University, University of Virginia and University of Houston.
"Joel Nielsen has organized a wonderful staff in coaches and administration," added Crosby. "I look forward to following the success of Kent State University and the Golden Flashes athletics department."
In his new role at Lynn, Crosby will be responsible for fostering the learning and service-oriented culture for which Lynn's sports program is known. The Fighting Knights were recently recognized as a winner of the NCAA Division II Community Engagement Award of Excellence, and nearly 70 percent of Lynn's student athletes earned a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the 2013-14 academic year.
"While it's a bitter sweet moment for many of us seeing Devin and his family leave Kent State, it's also rewarding to see him fulfill a lifelong professional goal of becoming an athletic director" said Kent State Director of Athletics Joel Nielsen. "Devin has done an outstanding job these past two-plus years and he will be missed on campus and in the community."
Lynn's athletics program has grown to more than 240 student athletes earning an overall 3.31 GPA in fall 2014. The university has 34 Sunshine State Conference titles, and the men's sports program was awarded the 2014-15 Sunshine State Conference Mayor's Cup for athletic excellence.
The men's soccer team brought home the university's 23rd national championship in December, and the Fighting Knights currently have four teams competing in the NCAA Tournament.
