Flashes Season Ends in 6-3 Tournament Loss

AVON, Ohio - The 2015 season came to an end Thursday morning as Kent State lost 6-3 in the Mid-American Conference Tournament to Bowling Green.
The Golden Flashes finished the season at 31-22.
Kent State out hit Bowling Green 12-7 but could not get quite enough runs across in the contest. The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the first after a walk, two stolen bases and a base hit. They then scored two in the 4th, one in the 6th and two in the 7th to go up 6-0.
The Golden Flashes scored twice in the 8th, started by back-to-back singles by Sawyer Polen and Zarley Zalewski. Jeff Revesz then singled home a run. Curtis Olvey walked to load the bases before Conner Simonetti also walked to earn an easy RBI. But, bases were left loaded in the inning.
The third run for Kent State came in the 9th on back-to-back singles by Polen and Zalewski again before a sacrifice fly by Tommy Monnot made the game 6-3.
Eric Lauer went 5.2 innings in the start with four hits, four runs, four walks and seven strikeouts. Dan Kopcak followed with 0.2 innings allowing two hits and one earned run. Zach WIlleman and Zach Spangler both also appeared out of the bullpen, neither allowing a run.
Polen went 3-for-5 in his final game as a Golden Flash with two runs. Zalewski also went 3-for-5 to finish the season batting .374, the highest single-season total at Kent State since 2008. Revesz and Zach Beckner contributed with two hits each.
