MCKINNEY, Texas - Kent State graduate Emma Johnson has found great success against the best players in the world early in her rookie season for the Pennsylvania Rebellion of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF). On Thursday night, Johnson earned the first victory of her professional career in the Rebellion's 3-2 win over the Dallas Charge.Â
Johnson started the game and allowed just one run on four hits in four innings in the circle. She faced 16 batters and had four strikeouts to only one walk in helping the Rebellion improve to 5-9 on the season.
While it was the first victory for Johnson, there is a possibility that could change as she was the last pitcher in the circle for the Rebellion in a pair of games last week that will be completed at a later date. She threw 8.1 relief innings against the Chicago Bandits on June 9 before allowing four runs in the top of the 11th inning, but the Rebellion successfully appealed the loss because the international tiebreaker was not implemented in the 10th inning. The game will resume in the top of the 10th on July 5. This past Sunday, Johnson retired all seven batters she faced as the Rebellion held a 3-0 lead over the Akron Racers before rain caused the game to be postponed in the bottom of the third inning.Â
Johnson has pitched 28Â innings in nine appearances for the Rebellion. She owns a 1-1 record with one save and a 2.31 earned run average. She has struckout 18 batters and is holding opponents to a .196 batting average.
