
XC Makes Final MAC Championship Preparations with Penn State Open

Kent State's cross country programs are set to run in the Penn State Open on Friday, Oct. 14, their final meet before the Mid-American Conference Championships which will be hosted by Kent State on Oct. 29. Friday's races will be held at the Penn State Blue/White Golf Course with the women's 6K race getting things started at 11:30 a.m., followed by the men's 5.2 mile race at 12:15 p.m.
The Golden Flashes last competed in the Mason invitational on Oct. 1, in which the women's team took first and the men's team took third.
In the women's 6K race, Kent State had six runners in the top-10, lead by Caroline Sauers who finished second with a time of 22:29.3. Coming in third and fourth behind Sauers was Swann Phelippeau and Olivia Davis with time of 22:17.3 and 22:32.1, respectively.
Rounding out the top-10 was Jaimie Adams in seventh at 23:10.9, Sarah Pack in ninth at 23:26.5 and Madison Spreitzer in 10th at 23:43.8.
Leading the way in men's 8K race was Nick Schank, capturing ninth with a time of 25:46.4. Finishing two spots behind Schank in 11th was Kyle Brooks (25:57.8), followed by Clark Bookman in 14th (26:06.2), Clark Bookman in 18th (26:20.4) and Josh Gogan in 20th (26:30.1).
Following the Penn State Open, Kent State will play host to the MAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Kent State University Golf Course. For more information on the championship, visit Championship Central.
