
Soccer Hosts Eastern Michigan Sunday in MAC Quarterfinals Match

The No. 2 seed Kent State soccer team will play host to Eastern Michigan on Sunday at 1 p.m. from Dix Stadium, one of four Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinal matches of the day.

The MAC East Division Champion Golden Flashes enter the tournament as the number two seed having finished the regular season with a record of 12-2-2 (8-1-2 MAC). Eastern Michigan, the seven seed, enters the tournament having finished the regular season with a record of 6-9-4 (4-5-2 MAC).
Kent State finished the regular season with a 3-2 overtime win at Ohio on Thursday. Junior Hayden Pascoe netted two of Kent State's three goals including the game-winner with just four seconds remaining in the first overtime period. For Pascoe, it's the first multiple-goal game of her career.
Senior Morgan Williams scored the first goal of the match for the Golden Flashes, her first of the season and second of her career.
Freshman Amanda Reed picked up the first college points of her career, assisting on the goal by Williams and the game-winner by Pascoe. Junior Kristen Brots added an assist on Pascoe's first goal of the match.
RANKING THE GOLDEN FLASHES
• Kent State finished the regular season with the 11th best win-loss-tie percentage in the nation at 0.813.
• The Golden Flashes own the highest goals per game average in the MAC at (1.93) and the lowest goals allowed average at 0.73.
• Kent State's defense has recorded seven shutouts this season and goalie Ashleah McDonald ranks third in the conference in goals against average (0.80).
• Senior Jenna Hellstrom ranks fourth in the nation points per game (2.27) and ninth in goals per game (0.87).
• Hellstrom leads the conference in assists (8), points (34) and points per game (2.27).
THE MATCHUP
• The series record between Kent State and Eastern Michigan stands at 9-12-1 in favor of the Eagles.
• Two of the 22 all-time matches between these two schools have come in the MAC Tournament. Eastern Michigan has won both matches, the last one taking place in 2009 at Eastern Michigan.
• These teams faced off earlier this season on Oct. 16 in Ypsilanti, a match that ended in a 0-0 tie.
• Eastern Michigan ended the regular season with a 1-0 loss to Central Michigan.
• Redshirt senior Ellie Tillar leads the Eagles this season with five goals and three assists.

With a win on Sunday, the Golden Flashes would advance to next Friday's MAC Tournament semifinal round and await the winner of the match between Central Michigan and Buffalo.
