Kent State (14-6) will head to American (13-6) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday looking to survive and advance its memorable 2016 season.
This season marks the 10th trip to the NCAA Tournament for the Golden Flashes after their third consecutive Mid-American Conference Tournament win that awarded them an automatic berth. Kent State beat Ball State 2-1 in a dominating performance on Friday before taking the tournament title with a 4-0 victory over Miami on Saturday.
American won the Patriot League tournament to receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Kent State is 1-2 all-time against the Eagles. The Flashes traveled to D.C. to face them last season as Alison Harmatz scored in double overtime for a 2-1 win.
The winner of the game will advance to face No. 1 seed Duke in regional action.
A game time for Wednesday's match has not yet been announced. Kentstatesports.com and @KentStFH on Twitter will have all the updates as more information is available.
