Gymnastics Takes Second in Think Pink Quad at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Kent State gymnastics team (5-3, 3-0 MAC) took second place in Ball State's Think Pink quad-meet on Sunday, Feb. 14. Kentucky finished on top with a score of 195.600, followed by Kent State (194.625), Ball State (194.375), and Lindenwood (190.950).
The Golden Flashes finished with team scores of 48.575 (vault), 48.750 (bars), 48.225 (beam), and 49.075 (floor), tying a season-high on floor.
On vault, freshman Kennedy Plude set a personal record with a score of 9.775, taking second overall. In fifth place with a score of 9.75 was Brooke Timko, followed by Michaela Romito in a tie for seventh place with a score of 9.725.
Sophomore Ali Marrero was the top finisher on bars for the Flashes, tying for third with a score of 9.825. Junior Skyelee Lamano finished in a five-way tie for sixth place with a score of 9.8.
Golden Flashes took three of the top four spots on beam, with sophomore Rachel Stypinski taking first at 9.875. Kennedy Plude set her second personal record of the day with 9.85, tying for second place. Ali Marrero finished fourth with another score of 9.825.
Stypinski tied with Denasiha Christian of Ball State for the top spot on floor with a score of 9.9. Juniors Skyelee Lamano and Jordan Hardison both scored 9.85, tying for third place. Junior Samantha Gordon posted a 9.775 tying for 11th overall.
The Golden Flashes' return to action Sunday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m., against Bowling Green, in the M.A.C. Center.
