Lauer Lands Spot on Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List

USA Baseball released its 2016 Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List on Tuesday with Kent State's Eric Lauer named one of 50 players selected in the country.
The Golden Spikes Award is sponsored by Major League Baseball and is given every year to the top amateur baseball player in the nation. Fans can nominate players from April 11 to April 17 before the midseason watch list is released on April 20. Voting for the semifinalists will begin June 1 and end June 8. Following that, fans can vote starting June 25.
The 39th Golden Spikes Award winner will be named on Thursday, June 30 in Los Angeles, California.
