Flashes Wrap Up Day One of the Akron Invitational

Akron, Ohio – The Kent State track and field team wrapped up day one of the Akron Invitational at Stile Athletics Field House on Friday, Feb. 5.
In her first competition as a Golden Flash, freshman Jai'Lyn Mosley won the discus throw gold division with a mark of 50.15m (164' 6"). In the men's discus gold division, Reginald Jagers posted a mark of 55.08m (180' 8"), good enough for 3rd place. Coming in fourth behind Jagers was junior Douglas Moorer Jr. with a mark of 53.28m (174' 10").
In the women's pentathlon, Chelsea Laury finished seventh with 3,475 points, setting a personal record and moving in to ninth all-time in Kent State history. Aspen Gaita finished tenth in the pentathlon and set a personal record in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.86.
After the the first day of the men's heptathlon, DJ Ohlson sits in ninth place with 2,705 points. Ohlson won the heptathlon high jump with a mark of 2.01m (6' 7").
The women's distance medley team consisting of Olivia Davis, Kristen Bergmeyer, Olivia Gaus, and Caroline Sauers captured second place with a time of 11:59.87. Sophomore Morgan Bing took sixth and set a personal record in the 5000m run at 18:26.5.
Day two of the Akron Invitational kicks off at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6 inside Stile Athletics Field House.
