Josh Kline to Return for Scholarship Auction
2/9/2016 2:19:00 PM | Football, General
Super Bowl champion Josh Kline of the New England Patriots will be the Guest of Honor at Kent State's 5th Annual Athletics Scholarship Auction. Fans can meet Kline at the M.A.C. Center Friday, April 29, for a fun-filled night benefitting current and future Kent State student-athletes.
A four-year letterwinner with the Golden Flashes, Kline started 13 games at guard for the Patriots during the 2015 season. He has been in the starting lineup in each of the past two AFC Championship games and earned a Super Bowl ring in February of 2015.
In 2012, Kline played a major role in Kent State's 2012 Mid-American Conference East title and 11-1 regular season. He earned All-MAC honors, helping the Flashes' offense rack up the most yards and touchdowns in program history.
A three-year starter, Kline played in all 50 of Kent State's games from 2009-12. Following his senior year, he was selected to play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Game.
After signing as a free agent with the Patriots in 2013, Kline spent most of his season on New England's practice squad. He worked his way onto the 53-man roster in November of that year and became a regular on the field by 2014. Kline appreciates his Kent State roots and will return to campus in April to help more Golden Flashes with scholarship opportunities.
The more than 125 items up for bid in both silent and live auctions this year include various trips, a five course paired wine dinner for 15 people in Heidelberg Distributing's Bordeaux Room, travel experiences with Kent State teams, fine jewelry and one-of-a-kind Kent State and sports memorabilia, including autographed bats from numerous Major League Baseball Hall of Famers such as Roberto Alomar, Ernie Banks and Stan Musial.
The evening will feature several gourmet food stations, an open bar, live music provided by Don Moore '68, a "Wall of Wine & Beer" and the chance to meet and mingle with Kent State student-athletes and coaches. Last year's Athletics Scholarship Auction raised over $115,000.
Everyone who purchases a ticket by Feb. 15 will be entered into a drawing to win two VIP Cavs tickets. For more information, call 330-672-2078 or visit www.501auctions.com/ksuathleticsauction2016.
